The 2010 WCHA Futurity and
Limited Aged Event wrapped up at The Arena in Casper on September
19. Mike Giannini took home the Open Futurity Championship riding
Inspiring Choices owned by the Y4 Ranch. Reserve Open Futurity
Champion was none other than Scott Amos riding Cat Got Yr Tongue,
who is owned by Lee Patton. The Non Pro Champion went to Robert
Schutte aboard Pretty Boy Jax, and the 75K Limited Non Pro
Championship went home with Terry McClure riding Style In Acres.
In the Open Derby, the
co-champions were Scott Amos and Robin Hayes. Amos took home the win
riding Prf Reys Gingerpunch, who incidentally, was last year’s Open
Futurity champion. Gingerpunch is owned by Peter Deleeuw. Hayes
shared the win aboard Wsr Oakin Tule owned by Jan Rutledge. The Non
Pro Derby Champion was Glenn Barlow of Gillette riding Sangria Rey.
Barlow won the 75K Limited Non Pro Derby, as well.
The Classic Open Champion was
James Davis riding Ginnin Woody, owned by Mike and Laurie Jones.
Reserve went to Kittyote Cat ridden by Tracy Barton and owned by Dr.
Jim O’Neil. The Classic Non Pro Championship and 75K Limited Non Pro
went home with Denise Cox riding Skyline Lena. Reserve went to Betsy
Talermo riding Somebodys Smart Talk.
The WCHA would like to thank
several people and sponsors that helped make this year’s futurity a
success. First of all, thanks to the futurity committee, which
included: Cathy Stalcup, Tom Stalcup, Cindy Thompson, Lori Stilwell
and Steve James. Also, thank you to Justin Johnson for arranging the
hay, Kristen York for arranging the awards, Rick and Trevor Alt for
bedding stalls and handling the cattle, Leanne Bates our secretary,
Castlewood Video, Laurie Errington and scootemnshootem photography,
Chubs Grub for providing the concession, Kenny Pugh and Jimmy
Packard and Tammy Paul, Kara Hatten and Mari Marquart for timing,
announcing and doing the practice pen. We would also like to extend
a very special thank you to Noland Feed, Lathrops Equipment and
Annie Green Thumb Landscaping. Shavings were provided by Nolands,
the Gator and tractor were generously provided by Lathrops and Annie
Green Thumb provided the beautiful flowers and plants for the photo
backdrop. Lastly, we would like to thanks to all the contestants! We
appreciate each and every one of you!
